Strawberry Blond TV create Dave’s Advent Calendar

This Christmas, Strawberry Blond has been commissioned by UKTV’s award-winning comedy channel Dave to gift festive shorts from top comedians with Dave’s Advent Calendar (24×2′).

The daily comedy shorts will run for the 24 days of Christmas in December, featuring festive funnies from the likes of Jon Richardson, Romesh Ranganathan, Sally Phillips, Ross Noble, Kerry Godliman and Josh Widdicombe.

An exclusive comedy treat, Dave’s Advent Calendar promises a festive insight into the finest minds in British comedy from why Romesh hates all Christmas presents, to Geoff Norcott’s Woke and Non-Woke Festive Thoughts, why Christmas makes Natasia Demetriou horny, and how much Andrew Maxwell hates turkey. Like, really hates it.

Other familiar faces offering up their Christmas delights include; Cardinal Burns’ Seb and Dustin, Nick Helm, Dane Baptiste, Ed Gamble, Nina Conti, Ken Cheng, Tom Craine, Beattie Edmondson, Sofie Hagen, Darren Harriott, Kerry Howard, Cariad Lloyd, Zoe Lyons, Rachel Parris and Angelos Epithemiou.

Dave’s Advent Calendar concludes on Christmas Eve with a spectacular version of Ding Dong Merrily On High which will never be the same again.

The short form series is commissioned by UKTV commissioning editor Joe McVey, who will oversee as executive producer, and ordered for Dave by Richard Watsham, director of commissioning, and Steve North, genre general manager, entertainment and comedy. Produced by Strawberry Blond, Hannah Smith is the producer, with Steve Wynne as executive producer and director.

Joe McVey said,

I’m really pleased to say that this year Dave is offering up an advent calendar with 24 actual human people lurking behind the doors. It’s so much better than the ones with chocolate or the ones with lame pictures of snow people. Unless you really like chocolate.

Luke Hales, Dave channel director added,

What a treat, what a daily 9pm Christmassy treat, finally an advent calendar we can all actually enjoy… Enjoy!

Steve Wynne said,

Dave’s Advent Calendar includes a nativity scene made of sushi, a vicar being shouted at, and a fist up a turkey. Merry Christmas.

Dave’s Advent Calendar is a festive addition to the rising list of UKTV Originals coming to Dave in the next few months, including brand-new quiz Beat The Internet with John Robins and in 2019, Hypothetical hosted by Josh Widdicombe with James Acaster and the return of scripted comedy Porters, starring Daniel Mays.

Dave’s Advent Calendar will be coming down your chimney this December, every single night at 9pm.
